Frequently Asked Questions

Please email us at osteo@dragonosteopaths.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Osteopathy is a distinctive and complete system of healthcare with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment of the person as a whole, in the context of their lives.

It recognises that many of the problems we have may stem from structural or mechanical factors causing our body to function in a way it isn’t really designed to. This may also worsen underlying conditions.

By gathering information from a detailed case history and careful physical examination, it is possible to form a medical diagnosis and comprehensive appraisal of your current problem.

We provide friendly, professional treatment and advice, individually tailored to you.

Treatment involves gentle, manual techniques such as soft tissue massage, movement and manipulation of joints and cranial osteopathy. It’s aim is to ease pain, reduce swelling and improve mobility in order to allow the body’s natural healing ability to restore function.

Osteopaths receive a minimum of 4 years training and are strictly regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. We must also follow annual continued professional development in order to keep our knowledge and skills up to date. This allows us to provide a high standard of treatment.

On your first visit, the osteopath will take a full medical case history and detailed information about your symptoms and lifestyle. You may be asked to remove some of your clothing so that a physical examination can be carried out. You will also be asked to perform certain movements to identify specific restrictions or factors contributing to your symptoms. With all of this in mind, the osteopath will form a diagnosis, which will be discussed with you. As long as it is safe and appropriate to treat, the osteopath will agree the next steps with you. Your first appointment will last up to an hour.

A highly developed sense of touch called palpation is used to assess areas of weakness, tenderness, restriction or strain within your body. Osteopaths usually start any treatment by releasing and relaxing muscles and stretching stiff joints, using gentle massage techniques, rhythmic joint movements and muscle release techniques. The osteopath may also carry out manipulation using short, quick movements to spinal joints. Other techniques may also be used depending on your problem.

People come to see osteopaths with a variety of problems or symptoms. Some of the common ones are listed below. If you would like to discuss your particular needs with the osteopath, they will be delighted to help. Please refer to the contacts page for information on how to do this.

Our groups of patients may include children, professionals, those seeking healthy living, active workers and actively retired.

The address is Still House Clinic, 30a Park Road, Egham, TW20 9BJ.

Please park in Hummer Road Car Park, Egham, TW20 9BW.  The clinic is then a very short walk from there.

From Hummer Road Car Park

Stand with the Tesco entrance behind you.  Looking straight ahead, past the pay point, you will see an alleyway with the no entry signs which you need to walk down (please take care as cars drive in from the far end). At the end of the alleyway, you will see Park Road which is immediately visible to your right. 30a is about half way down on the right hand side.

Please ring the buzzer on the left hand side of the door and wait (this is to alert your practitioner of your arrival but does not open the door).  Your practitioner will be able then let you in.

From the High Street

Walk through the pathway to the right side of Costa coffee which will bring you out beside Tesco, then follow the instructions above.
